Golden Circle from Reykjavik

The Golden Circle tour is one of Iceland's most popular trips, hitting 3 main sights—but I like to add more stops along the way! The order can change as we try to avoid the crowds. We’ll visit Kerid, an ancient volcanic crater with a lake at the bottom. Then, we’ll head to the Geysir geothermal area, where you can see the original Geysir (currently quiet) and its active little brother, Strokkur, which erupts every 5-8 minutes. Next, we’ll check out Gullfoss waterfall, dropping 32 meters in two stages with a rainbow often shimmering over it on sunny days. For lunch, I recommend Friðheimar greenhouse for the best tomato soup, or Efstidalur farm for burgers and homemade ice cream. Brúarfoss, a stunning hidden gem, has turquoise water perfect for photos. Lastly Thingvellir National Park, where the world’s oldest active parliament was founded in 930, and the tectonic plates drift apart. We do this at the end of the day to avoid the morning bus traffic.
